The origin of acne mostly lies in the sebaceous glands. Acne is caused by a disturbance of the pilo-sebaceous follicle.
The origins of acne are various
:
- excess of fabricated sebum- dilated or obstructed pores (blackheads or open microcysts)
- inflammation and infection of the microcysts (acne spots).
The three main causes of acne are thus
:
- sebaceous hyper-production
- Keratinisation of the upper end of the sebaceous
- proliferation of germs and bacteria in the sebaceous follicle.
